-INTRODUCTION TO SOCCER COACHING

John Latigo was born in Kampala but originates from Kitgum District in Northern Uganda. In 1974 after his primary education he joined Kololo S.S., where he did both his 'O' and 'A' Levels. In 1981, he joined the National Teachers College,Kyambogo, where he graduated as a 'V' teacher with a diploma. All those years as a student at Kololo S.S., he played and captained the school football team and won the National School's Football championship for two years in succession. Between 1978 and 1988, he played football for Kampala City Council F.C.(KCC), one of the most talented and entertaining football clubs in Africa.
He joined the Uganda Cranes (the national football team) in 1981, two years later he captained the team until 1988 when he was offered a scholarship to Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany to do a Master of Science (MSc) Degree in Sport Science. Prior to his scholarship, in 1987 he was one of the ten Ugandan football coaches to undertake a German B-License football coaching course at Ruit Fussball Schhule near Stuttgart. During the MSc course vocation, he undertook a German A-License football coaching Course at Hennef Sport Schule near Bonn. He later went to London and joined the University of Greenwich where he graduated with the Bachelor of Science honours degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. He now lives in London and hopes to return to Uganda in the near future.
Due to his incredible experience and successful career as a footballer and coach, he has decided to share his experiences with football coaches and those interested in taking football coaching as a part time activity, to help suppliment the experience gained from participating in football (soccer) games during their useful times.
